Yuma, AZ (May 30, 2018) – Those looking to become certified in Electrical Safety and Construction Safety can do so through two Career and Technical Education Summer Certification Camps offered in June at Arizona Western College.
Yuma, AZ (May 24, 2018) –Arizona Western College announces their 2017-2018 NISOD Excellence Award recipients, who will represent AWC at the NISOD Conference this summer.
Yuma, AZ (May 23, 2018) – Fifty students from Yuma and La Paz high schools will be residing in Arizona Western College’s Residence Halls for five weeks as part of the TRIO Upward Bound Summer Camp.
Participants will attend classes such as math, English, science, foreign language, and electives in addition to evening activities to help them prepare for the upcoming academic year and become familiar with the college environment.
The camp will begin on May 29 and end on June 29. The students will stay on campus Sunday through Friday each week.
Yuma, AZ (May 21, 2018) – With a diverse population of students from over 30 countries, Arizona Western College is home to a number of international faculty as well.
Salil Dhawan is one of those faculty members. He moved to Yuma from Dalhousie, India in January to accept a job as the new professor of Computer Information Systems.
He was drawn to AWC after learning about the college’s commitment to imparting quality education to help build up the communities it serves.

Yuma, AZ (May 14, 2018) – During her childhood, Yesenia Gonzalez Soto watched her parents leave home early each morning and come back late each night after working in the fields. They would often come home physically exhausted from the long days and strenuous labor required to do their jobs.
Parker, AZ (May 15, 2018) – The small school atmosphere and number of services available to help guide students were two deciding factors for Heather Huhtala when considering whether or not to attend Arizona Western College. The proximity of AWC’s Parker Campus to her home and the affordability of the classes helped too, especially since she was also raising three children and working at the same time.
Huhtala took a combination of online and in-person courses to earn her Associate of Arts degree in Psychology from AWC in 2016.
Yuma, AZ (May 15, 2018) - Arizona Western College will be celebrating the 2018 Commencement on Friday, May 18, at 8 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium, 7150 E. 24th St. Graduates must report to the Gila Ridge High School Hawk Gym promptly at 7 p.m. The processional will begin at 7:40 p.m. under leadership of the Grand Marshal.
Those attending and participating in commencement should allow for extra travel time as traffic interchange improvements will be underway nearby for phase 2 of the Araby Road South Roundabout.
Yuma, AZ (May 14, 2018) – Students in the ASU@Yuma Secondary Education program have received early teaching contract offers before their upcoming graduation, some as early as during their first year of classes. With a shortage of teachers to fill open middle and high school positions in Yuma, the program has been a much-needed addition to the community.
