Students to Perform Theater Showcase “After Dark...”


Yuma, AZ (November 21, 2017) – Arizona Western College’s Theatre program will be performing student actor monologues and a student directed one-act play in their showcase “After Dark…”
The shows will be held at the AWC Theatre on the Yuma Main Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E, and will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 1.

Students from Acting One as well as Voice and Diction classes will be performing a variety of scenes and monologues selected from the work they have done throughout the semester.

Annual Christmas Gala set for Nov. 30


Yuma, AZ (November 14, 2017) – Arizona Western College choirs, orchestras, band, and piano faculty will be performing at the annual Christmas Gala on Thursday, Nov. 30.

“The audience can expect to hear arrangements of familiar Christmas classics, as well as more unfamiliar or exotic selections for the various ensembles,” said Shawn Pollard, AWC Professor of Instrumental Music.

Pollard added that the community is in for a very enjoyable performance, as the students will be performing a culmination of music they’ve been working on all semester.

AWC Jazz Ensemble Presents their Fall Concert on December 6


Yuma, AZ (November 20, 2017) – The Arizona Western College Jazz Ensemble will be having its Fall Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 6. The show will take place at the AWC Theater at 7:00 pm.

The band will be performing a mix of jazz and popular compositions and featuring a number of student soloists.

The Fall Concert is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted.

AWC to Celebrate Students at University Transfer Signing Day


Yuma, AZ (November 15, 2017) – Arizona Western College Transfer Services, in collaboration with the AWC Foundation, AWC Alumni Association and the KEYS program, will be celebrating students at University Transfer Signing Day on Thursday, November 30. The event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the 3C Breezeway on the Yuma Campus.

AWC students who will be transferring to Arizona State University, University of Arizona, or Northern Arizona University in the spring will be recognized by institution representatives, who will also be available to respond to student inquiries.

Portraits Available at “Student-Artist-in-Residence” Photo Booth


Yuma, AZ (November 13, 2017) – Arizona Western College students, faculty and staff are invited to come by the “Student-Artist-in-Residence” Photo Booth to have their portrait taken on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 1:15 p.m. in the LR Building Atrium.

Students will be shooting portraits using studio lights and professional backdrops as part of their Digital Photography class. The event will also provide an opportunity for anyone to ask questions and engage with photo students on what it takes to do portrait photography.

Copies of photos taken will be emailed upon request.

CTE Presents Lunch & Learn on Regional Collaborations


Yuma, AZ (November 13, 2017) – Arizona Western College’s Center for Teaching Effectiveness (CTE) will be holding a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Dr. Linda Elliott-Nelson, AWC Vice President for Learning Services, will be discussing examples of regional collaborations and how they have impacted border communities. Regional collaborations can lead to social change and benefits in areas of global and regional trade, transportation and infrastructure, healthcare and medical tourism, and education.

2017 Family Night Entertains & Educates


Yuma, AZ (November 7, 2017)-Arizona Western College invites the community to the main campus for the 16th Annual AWC Academic Open House Family Night on November 16th from 5:30-8:30pm.

For over a decade, thousands from the community have joined students, faculty and staff for a great night of food, fun and education. The purpose of the AWC Academic Open House Family Night is to welcome the community to the campus. Families and students enjoy a variety of game and food booths highlighting the college's academic programs and services in a fun and informative night of entertainment.

The first person in her family to pursue higher education, she felt overwhelmed and alone trying to figure out which college would be the best fit. That was until her senior year of high school when her guidance counselor told her about Arizona Western College.
