Student and Faculty Reporting Forms

For student misconduct, grievances, sexual harassment or other disciplinary concern’s, please visit our student conduct section and fill out the appropriate report.

The primary objective of a student grievance procedure is to ensure concerns are promptly dealt with and resolutions reached in a fair and just manner. It is essential each student be given adequate opportunity to bring complaints and problems to the attention of the College with the assurance each will be heard and due process afforded the student. For more information, please refer to Procedure 551.1 in the Procedure Manual.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Crime Statistics Act, AWC publishes an Annual Security Report (ASR) by October 1. This report includes statistics for the previous three (3) years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, at certain off-campus buildings, and adjacent public property. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.

Privacy of Student Records-Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Arizona Western College complies fully with this law, also known as FERPA, which is designed to protect the privacy of student educational records and to ensure the rights of students to examine their records. More information is available in the Admission & Records Office, located in the 3C’s building, top floor and on the FERPA Annual notification handout.

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a law that gives you the right to access information from the federal government. It is often described as the law that keeps citizens in the know about their government.

Voter’s Registration

Arizona Western College fully supports and advocates that students and staff register to vote.  Voter Registration forms are available for download.

Accreditation, Approval, and Licensure of Institution and Programs

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), like other voluntary higher education accrediting agencies in the United States, evaluates an entire organization and accredits it as a whole. The evaluation covers formal educational activities, student academic achievement, governance and administration, financial stability, resources, admissions, and student personnel services, organization effectiveness, and relationships with outside constituencies.

Refund Policy and Requirements for Withdrawal and Return of Federal Financial Aid

Federal regulations require Arizona Western College to have a fair and equitable refund policy for students receiving federal financial aid, who officially or unofficially withdraw from all of the courses in which they are enrolled. See the AWC Catalog or Request for Refund Form for additional information.

Process for Withdrawing as a Student
An official withdrawal occurs when you notify the Arizona Western College Admissions and Registration Office in person.  Please check the current academic calendar for the last day to withdraw.

Gainful Employment

The U.S. Department of Education requires colleges to disclose a variety of information for any financial aid eligible program that “prepares students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation.” The information provided here is the best available to us but represents one year’s data only. However, we hope that this information is helpful to our current students and to prospective students as they make their career and educational choices. Alcohol and Drug-Free Campus

The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989 requires all institutions of higher education, as a condition of receiving any form of federal financial assistance from any federal agency on or after October 1, 1990, to certify to the United States Department of Education that they have adopted and implemented programs to prevent the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol by students and employees. Freedom of Expression

Arizona Western College has established a Committee on Free Expression, which submits this report as required by A.R.S. §15-1868. The membership of the committee as of December 1, 2018, is provided in Exhibit A of the report.

Practice Relating to Public Access and Freedom of Expression

As reflected in the board’s policy on free expression and long-standing board and college policies and practice, the board and the college strive to ensure the fullest degree of intellectual freedom and free expression. The college does not shield individuals from speech protected by the First Amendment, including ideas and opinions that may be unwelcome, disagreeable or deeply offensive.

College Photo and Videotape Policy

Arizona Western College takes photos and videotapes of students throughout the year. These photographs often include students in classrooms, study areas, residence halls, athletic events and so forth. Arizona Western College reserves the right to use these photographs as part of its publicity and marketing efforts. Students who enroll at Arizona Western College do so with the understanding that these photographs might include them and might be used in College publications and for publicity.
