Arizona Western College offers procedures and resources for students, faculty, and staff to address behavioral concerns and conflicts affecting the Arizona Western College community. This involves a balance of individuals' rights, the safety of the campus community, and the preservation of the educational environment.
The role of Student Conduct is to:
- advocate for students and the learning environment through College policies and procedures,
- facilitate the student conduct process for alleged student violations of College policies,
- advise students on their rights in the conduct process and in campus complaint procedures,
- provide consultation and resources for faculty and staff as they address low-level student behavioral concerns informally,
- offer procedural advice to faculty and staff,
- conduct investigations and ensure that campus responses to reports of sexual and gender-based misconduct are compliant with Title IX,
- provide conflict resolution and mediation services when appropriate,
- work with our Student of Concern Workgroup
As a student at Arizona Western College you have the opportunity to benefit from a quality educational experience. Below are some resources designed to assist staff in preventing and responding to student behavioral concerns:
Parents and family members can play an important part in supporting a student as he/she participates in a student conduct process. Understanding Academic Dishonesty
Members of the surrounding community who are not current students or employees but who are affected by student behavior while on campus may also seek to utilize some of the resources at AWC. Community members are encouraged to report incidents of concern to the appropriate offices, including:
- If you have been a victim of a crime or feel concerned for your immediate safety on campus, contact AWC Police Department at (928) 314-9500.
- If you have observed behaviors that make you think someone might engage in violence on campus or towards the AWC community, contact the Dean of Students or the Campus Life Office. Examples of reasons to contact the Dean of Students include: an indirect threat, mentioning having a weapon, expressed strong targeted anger, etc. Procedures include an investigation and assessment process, so if you need an immediate response, contact the AWC Police Department.
