The community is invited to the Arizona Western College production of Marc Acito's Birds of a Feather, a comedic play exploring the definition of family. Performances will be held on March 6-9.
The Yuma Transfer and Career Expo will focus on providing students, alumni of Arizona Western College, and partner university students with transfer and career information as well as full and part-time employment, volunteer, and internship opportunities.
On March 3-6, Arizona Western College is hosting the Desert Southwest Transfer Conference in collaboration with Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and Earn to Learn. The highlight of the week is the Yuma Career and Transfer Expo, connecting attendees with representatives from ten universities and over thirty of Yuma’s employers, agencies, and organizations.
Last week, representatives from Arizona Western College leadership and student body visited the State Capitol to meet with the Arizona legislators that serve Yuma and La Paz counties. Topics of discussion were AWC programs and the upcoming 2026 budget.
Enrollment for Arizona Western College’s Adult Education Program is now open. Residents of Yuma and La Paz counties can improve their English language skills through ESOL classes or pursue a High School Equivalency diploma with the GED Preparation course. Interested parties are encouraged to begin the application process today!
AWC professor Dr. Monica Ketchum-Cárdenas will be attending the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women next month as a delegate for Soroptimist International. The session will bring together international advocates for women’s rights as they assess the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
Arizona Western College’s food pantry and closet, The Cubby, is seeking donations. The Cubby supports AWC students and staff facing food insecurity by offering free non-perishable food items, toiletries, and professional clothing.
The Arizona Western College Foundation is seeking nominations for the AWC Hall of Fame in four categories: student, faculty/staff, teams, and community leader. Nominations will be close on March 13, end of day.
This week, leadership from Arizona Western College and NAU-Yuma met with the Arizona Attainment Alliance, a strategic partnership between Arizona institutions intent on making education more accessible for students. AWC was showcased as a leader in advancing student success and educational access.
