November leadHERship workshop focuses on the transformative power of service

November 18, 2024

San Luis, AZ (November 18, 2024) – The leadHERship initiative at Arizona Western College continues its commitment to gender equality and empowerment with the upcoming November workshop titled, “Finding Your Passion for Service.”

The workshop, led by AWC Professor of History and Sociology Dr. Monica Ketchum-Cardenas, will center on the transformative power of giving back to the community. Participants will discover how serving others can enrich their lives personally while positively impacting both local and global communities.

“I come from a long line of women dedicated to serving the community, and I truly believe that volunteering locally can make a real difference,” Dr. Ketchum-Cardenas shared. “When individuals give of themselves, it sparks positive social change, yet many people feel uncertain about where or how to start. My hope for this session is to inspire a spirit of giving and empower participants to discover and cultivate their own passion for service."

Dr. Ketchum-Cardenas will share her personal journey as a community activist and volunteer, highlighting her connection with meaningful causes worldwide. Attendees will be encouraged to explore causes that resonate with their values, identify how their unique skills can support service organizations, and create a personalized plan for contributing to their communities, both now and in the future.
