AWC Talent Search Hosts “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” for High School Students

Yuma, AZ (November 16, 2016)-Arizona Western College Talent Search will be hosting “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” for high school students on Thursday, November 17 on the Yuma Campus in South Schoening, the East Meeting Room, and the Frances Morris Conference Room.  Students from Kofa, Parker, San Luis and Yuma high schools will be in attendance.

The students will attend an interview skills workshop presented by AWC Career Services and will fill out a job application.  Armed with their application and their new interview skills, they will be interviewed for a career.  Once they are given a job with an annual salary, they will "purchase" a car and a house.  Local car salesman and realtors will be available to assist with this portion. This activity gives students a real life picture of what a chosen career will pay and what type of house and car they can afford with that career.

Talent Search is a federally funded grant designed to help students graduate from high school and continue on to college. Eligible students are potential first-generation college students, and/or low income.  Students are eligible to participate in the program from 6th through 12th grade.
