Community invited to The Honey Girl of Auschwitz on Jan. 23-24
January 8, 2025Inspirational event to feature Holocaust speaker
Yuma, AZ (January 8, 2025) – Later this month, Arizona Western College (AWC) invites the community to attend The Honey Girl of Auschwitz, a powerful conversation with 96-year-old Holocaust survivor Esther Basch. The event is co-sponsored by Carol Engler and Michael Foree, AWC, Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD), and Yuma Elementary School District One (YESD#1).
"Arizona Western College is proud to help present Esther Basch, a Holocaust survivor known as the Honey Girl of Auschwitz,” shared Dr. Nikki Hage, AWC Dean of Students. “Ms. Basch was transported to the Salzwedel Concentration Camp in 1945 and will share her remarkable story of survival and resilience at the Arizona Western College Theater (for our students and staff, along with members of the community). This event presents a valuable opportunity for attendees to gain insight from a living witness of history and perseverance."
Basch, who now lives in Prescott, AZ, travels the country sharing her experience and spreading a message of hope, dignity, and compassion.
Join AWC at this inspiring event on Jan. 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the AWC Theater. Gila Ridge High School Performing Arts will present the event for YUHSD and YESD#1 students on Jan. 24 at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.
