Astronaut Mike Foreman to Visit Arizona Western College

January 31, 2017

Former astronaut Mike Foreman will be visiting Arizona Western College on Wednesday, February 15th to talk to AWC students and students from the area about working in space as an astronaut. His presentation will take place in the Schoening Conference Center on the Yuma Campus from 1:00 pm -3:30 pm.

Mr. Foreman is a retired U.S. Navy pilot and a NASA astronaut. One of his missions, when he was working for NASA, was to deliver the Japanese Experiment Module and the Canadian Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulate to the International Space Station. In November 2009, he served as a crewmember for the STS-129 mission.

As part of the rural community college initiative, Mr. Foreman’s visit is being funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Science Foundation of Arizona (SFAz) Plus 8 Grant.  The goal is to excite more students into STEM degree programs and careers.

"I am a big proponent of STEM education and am looking forward to sharing my spaceflight experiences with the students of Arizona Western and Yuma County," said Mike Foreman.
