CERT - Occupational Certificate
Over the past several years, the need for well-trained entry-level agricultural technicians has greatly increased. To meet this need, this program is offered for those wishing to pursue this occupation which, upon completion, will enable the student to become employable. The course work contained in the certificate may be applied to the A.A.S. degree in Applied Agriculture.
Program Purpose
Graduates will demonstrate basic knowledge in agricultural technology that will prepare them to obtain an entry-level position within the field.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify and define function of plant tissues, specialized cells, and sub-cellular organelles.
- Explain the 5 primary functions of plants including: photosynthesis, respiration, translocation, absorption, and transpiration.
- Describe the complexities and functions of the flower including pollination, double fertilization, embryo development and its genetic inheritance.
- Identify the relationship of soil moisture and fertilizer availability.
- Identify and solve some of the problems facing production and distribution.
- List and demonstrate an understanding of the various methods of monitoring the financial aspects of an agricultural business.
