Yuma, AZ (August 1, 2019) – Students at Arizona Western College hoping to attain a four-year degree can now prepare for a successful path to transfer as soon as they begin community college with the help of a new joint student success initiative in partnership with the college preparedness platform RaiseMe.
Yuma, AZ (July 23, 2019) – A report provided by the Arizona State System for Information on Student Transfer (ASSIST) earlier this month reflected a 33.5% transfer rate increase over the last five years at Arizona Western College, compared to a -1.4% transfer rate statewide.
Masonry graduate recently selected to teach at Arizona Department of Corrections Second Chance Center
Yuma, AZ (July 18, 2019) – In an effort to reduce recidivism, Arizona Western College currently has three Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate programs for incarcerated students to enroll in at Arizona State Prison Complex - Yuma. Available programs for inmates at three of the five units at the facility include Masonry, Foundations of Construction, and Plumbing.
Funds to strengthen Arizona Western College’s middle and high school partnership programs

This large informational event will inform community members and students about the many disciplines available at AWC and will provide an opportunity for participants to begin the process of selecting a major.
Arizona Western College faculty to participate in rural community college math collaborative
Yuma, AZ (June 13, 2019) – The National Science Foundation recently awarded a $599,929 grant to the Science Foundation Arizona Center for STEM at Arizona State University (SFAz STEM) to support an Advanced Technological Education Project, entitled: Impact of System-Wide Contextualization of Math in SFAz+8 Rural Arizona Colleges on Producing More Qualified Technicians (SFAz+8 CXM).
Parker, AZ (May 30, 2019) – La Paz County Public Fiduciary Vivian Hartless was named 2019 Fiduciary of the Year by the Arizona Fiduciaries Association.
Hartless said she is honored to receive this award and to be recognized by her peers. The Arizona Fiduciaries Association has over 200 members, including both public and private fiduciaries.
Yuma, AZ (May 30, 2019) – The Arizona Western College Career and Technical Education (CTE) department is offering a number of summer camps in June on Drones, Construction Trades, Gaming, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Math Readiness, and Culinary. Classes will be held for a variety of age groups, ranging from 13 and up, at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Avenue 8E.
