Students showcase creativity at annual events
On April 16th, Arizona Western College celebrated the creativity of our students at the 2025 Student Showcase and Open Mic, with $9,000 in scholarships awarded to participants in Yuma and San Luis.

Arizona Western College has been featured in a national report outlining recommendations for increasing the bachelor’s attainment rate for transfer students across the country. The report highlights AWC’s Dual Enrollment Program, the institutional partnership with Northern Arizona University-Yuma, and the success of the Yuma Educational Success (YES) Program.
Earlier this month, students from the Arizona Western Business Club competed in the 2025 Arizona Community College Excellence Business Competition, with one of AWC’s four-student teams placing third overall.
Following a proclamation from Governor Katie Hobbs that designated the month of April as Arizona Community College Month, Arizona Western College invites the community to join us in celebrating the role that community colleges play in shaping the future of our community, our state, and beyond.
On March 26, Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College celebrated seven students as they graduated from the Carpentry program with certificates from the National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER) in Basic Carpentry.
Sarah Herman, Director of Content Strategy and Development for Arizona Western College's Marketing & Communications department, was recently announced as the National Communicator of the Year by the National Council of Marketing and Public Relations. The award recognizes Herman for the passion, leadership, and excellence she brings to her work.
The Arizona Western College Marketing & Communications graphic design team recently returned from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations conference in New Orleans with national awards for original designs and concepts.
The Arizona Western College Enrollment Tour is now underway! Over the next month, AWC representatives will meet with 13 high schools from Yuma and La Paz counties, sharing resources and information on admission, registration, financial aid, and more in an effort to eliminate barriers to obtaining a college diploma.
