Ribbon cutting to unveil new UMA sign

Welding professors and students create installation for AWC Yuma Campus

Yuma, AZ (August 25, 2022) – Arizona Western College has partnered with the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area and Greater Yuma Economic Development on a new sign installation featured at the Yuma Campus.

Professors and students in the Welding program recently created a new UMA sign located between the Engineering Building and the Theater, 2020 S. Ave. 8E. A campus map can be found here. The sign serves as a photo opportunity for visitors to be the ‘Y’ in Yuma.

To unveil the new sign to the public, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 12. The media is invited to attend this event.

AWC President Dr. Daniel Corr will be speaking during the ceremony as well as Vice President for Workforce Development and Career & Technical Education Reetika Dhawan, Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area Communications Specialist Sarah Halligan, Welding Professor Bobby Alvarado, students involved in the design, and a member of the campus facilities staff involved with the installation. Representatives from the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce will also be in attendance at this event.
