AWC offering CTE summer certification camps

Yuma, AZ (May 30, 2018) – Those looking to become certified in Electrical Safety and Construction Safety can do so through two Career and Technical Education Summer Certification Camps offered in June at Arizona Western College.

A National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace certification camp will be available from June 11-14. Participants will learn about topics including procedures for identifying electrical hazards, use of personal protective equipment, standards that govern safety in the workplace, and more. They will also have an opportunity to become certified in electrical safety through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

AWC is also offering an opportunity for individuals to receive their OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Card and NCCER Safety Certificate during a camp offered from June 25-28. Participants will learn about topics including hazard communications, fire protection and prevention, excavations, material handling, and more.

Both camps will have a maximum class size of 20 students and will take place in the Engineering Building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Avenue 8E.

Each camp costs $100 per participant. The deadline to register is Monday, June 4, by 4 p.m.
