10-week HVAC certification program now accepting students
February 6, 2025New Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College program to start on February 24
Yuma, Ariz. (February 6, 2025) – Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College, in collaboration with ARIZONA@WORK, now offers a 10-week occupational certification in Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC). The HVAC Helper 1 Certificate program will prepare students for an entry-level position in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry.
“The HVAC Helper 1 Certificate provides students with essential hands-on training to enter the high-demand HVAC industry,” said Reetika Dhawan, CEO of Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College & Vice President of Workforce & Healthcare Programs. “This program equips graduates with the skills needed for entry-level jobs, ensuring they are job-ready from day one. At Arizona Western College, we remain committed to workforce development and creating strong career pathways for our community.”
Upon completion of the program, students will gain an understanding of HVAC systems, demonstrate proper equipment handling and installation practices, and be able to diagnose and address problems within HVAC systems. In addition to earning the HVAC Helper 1 certification, students will be prepared to pass the Ready to Work Certificate exam from North American Technical Excellence and the EPA Section 608 exam, both essential industry certifications.

The HVAC Helper 1 course will meet at the AWC Yuma Campus every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from February 24 to May 9, with classes running from 1:30–6:00 p.m. Students interested in studying at a slower pace can view other AWC offerings in Air Conditioning and HVAC here.
Funds are available through the AZQuest Grant for students in need of financial assistance.
