CACCEO - County Code Enforcement Course

In collaboration with the Coalition of Arizona County Code Enforcement Officials (CACCEO), Arizona Western College (AWC) is offering an online certification course to Arizona County Code Enforcement Officials as well as the general public.

This is a self-paced, seven-module course facilitated by certified county code enforcement officials and delivered online.

Participants will also have online access to the enforcement officials, who will be available for support and questions and answers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The course must be completed within 90 days from the date of registration. 

Participants can complete the course entirely from home or office and at any time of the day or night. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Zoning Inspector/County Code Enforcement Course Certificate signed by the presidents of the Arizona Association of County Planning Directors (AACPD) and CACCEO, receive a certificate of completion from AWC, and be awarded 21 contact hours by the Arizona Western College Continuing Education Division.

What You'll Learn

Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will be able to identify:

  • The purpose, process and legal authority for adoption and enforcement of zoning codes
  • Field safety hazards for zoning inspectors and strategies to anticipate, avoid, and implement effective methods for dealing with threats to safety
  • Elements of property ownership related to various types of property deeds, rights to claim community property status, and principles for taking title to property
  • Effective communications strategies, both visual and written
  • The legal roles and responsibilities of the zoning inspector, code enforcement officer, hearing officer, and the county board of supervisors
  • Factors in the enabling legislation, related court cases and constitutional rights that impact the enforcement of zoning regulations
  • Legal and personal ethical values expected in the enforcement of zoning regulation

Registration Hours: Mon - Thurs 8AM - 5PM, Fri 8AM - 4PM payments accepted via phone, mail or walk in. Please make checks payable to AWC. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards accepted.

Refund/Cancellation Policy: A 100% refund will be granted if a request is made 2 business days prior to the start of class. A 50% refund will be issued if notice is received less than 2 business days prior to class. No refunds will be issued after the first day of class.
