Course is designed to enhance intermediate English language learners entering the medical field as frontline support staff by emphasizing the development of foundational communication skills, oral communication and social interactions in medical settings. At the end of the course, students will have the skills to take the IELTS General Training exam, which is recognized worldwide as an established English assessment for skills needed in workplace environments.

What You'll Learn

Upon completion of the class students will be able to:

  • -Demonstrate knowledge of essential vocabulary related to body parts, family, colors, clothing, shopping, dining out, occupations, weather, and joint ailments.
  • -Students will identify and use essential medical terminology related to patient care and healthcare settings.
  • -Demonstrate the ability to communicate with patients and healthcare professionals by developing comprehension patient interactions.
  • -Students will practice responding to everyday common situations in medical settings to enhance their problem-solving skills and conversational skills.
  • -Use appropriate greetings in social interactions.
  • Request and provide personal information such as names, telephone numbers, and addresses.

Registration Hours: Mon - Thurs 8AM - 5PM, Fri 8AM - 4PM payments accepted via phone, or walk-in. Please make checks payable to AWC. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards accepted.
Refund/Cancellation Policy: A 100% refund will be granted if a request is made 2 business days prior to the start of class. A 50% refund will be issued if notice is received less than 2 business days prior to class. No refunds will be issued after the first day of class.
