Carpentry students work on a project as they train to receive their certification in Basic Carpentry.

Carpentry program celebrates Spring graduates

April 15, 2025

Yuma, Ariz. (April 15, 2025) – On March 26, Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College celebrated seven students as they graduated from the Carpentry program with certificates from the National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER) in Basic Carpentry.

Through 140 hours of in-class instruction and hands-on learning, the students gained skills in craft projects like framing, repairing and building sheds, and home construction.

“As an instructor, my priority is to empower the students with the basic tools and skills necessary to achieve their goals and their future,” said Carpentry Instructor Raymundo Flores. “Nowadays, many companies are accepting this training as a top priority for employees, and the best of all recognized companies are offering better salaries for those who have done this certification. This is an amazing opportunity not only for men, but women as well. In a few more years we could have new Carpentry Instructors, Foremen, Supervisors, or Architects. Let’s keep growing!”

Registration is now open for the next session of Carpentry courses, which will run from May 16th to July 19th at the AWC Reskilling and Technology Center. Classes are offered in English and Spanish, and tuition assistance is available through AZ@WORK.
