Decked out in a paper top hat and tie, Matabot greets students at the SLLC with a screen that reads, "Hello Welcome to San Luis" and a speech bubble nametag that reads, "I'm Matabot, but you can call me Temi"

San Luis, Ariz. (March 20, 2025) – Arizona Western College is entering a new era in AI technology, acquiring an AI robot to assist students and staff at the San Luis Learning Center (SLLC). The personal assistant robot, newly dubbed, “MATABOT,” was unveiled at the AWC District Governing Board meeting on Wednesday, March 19.

“We are excited to introduce the Personal Assistant Robot at the San Luis Learning Center,” said Reetika Dhawan, CEO of Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College & Vice President of Workforce & Healthcare Programs. “This innovative technology, with its built-in navigation and multi-language support, will enhance the learning experience by providing students and staff with seamless assistance, regardless of their language preference. It’s another step forward in embracing cutting-edge solutions to support education, accessibility, and student success in our diverse community.”

The temi V3 robot is specifically designed for autonomous navigation, facial recognition, and voice interaction to function as a personal assistant in the home and office. While staff at the SLLC continues to discover the extent of the robot’s applications for the Center, MATABOT currently guides students around campus and offers in-class support using AI technology.
