Clean Energy Technology

Program Description

Recognizing that a successful career in clean energy technology involves more than theoretical knowledge, the Clean Energy Technology program and certificates are designed for individuals with the drive and aptitude to become skilled clean energy technicians. Students gain competencies in a variety of energy systems, enabling them to assess, install, maintain, and troubleshoot modern clean energy technologies accurately. In addition, students receive advanced technical education on emerging systems and equipment to stay current with industry trends. This program focuses on preparing students for careers in high-demand clean energy fields and provides opportunities for industry-recognized certifications.

Graduates of the Clean Energy Technology program and certificates will:

  • Analyze clean energy applications and determine the materials and equipment necessary to perform tasks related to renewable energy systems and technologies.
  • Perform entry-level diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of clean energy technologies, including electric vehicles, solar panels, and energy efficiency systems.
  • Be proficient in the operation, installation, and troubleshooting of EV charging stations, battery systems, and renewable energy components.
  • Participate in hands-on learning experiences using advanced simulators, live equipment, and real-world clean energy applications.
  • Describe the integration of energy management systems and clean energy technologies with modern smart grid systems.
  • Gain practical knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance within the clean energy industry.
  • Be prepared to pursue certifications related to electric vehicle maintenance, solar installation, energy auditing, and more.

The Clean Energy Technology program and certificates offer a pathway for individuals looking to acquire certificates and develop expertise in renewable energy systems and technologies.

In addition, as part of our commitment to preparing students for careers in clean energy, the following workforce courses provide hands-on training in Energy Management & Optimization (flyer)—a dynamic field spanning multiple industries. Focused on reducing energy consumption to enhance efficiency and productivity in businesses, buildings, and manufacturing, this field offers promising career opportunities, with energy optimization technicians earning a median salary of $72,775 to $78,193 per year.

  • EOT-100 Energy Optimization Technology (4 Credits)
    • This course introduces students to the principles of optimization and their applications in energy systems. Topics include fundamental optimization techniques, modeling of energy systems, and solving key decision-making problems in electric power and energy markets. Students will learn how to apply these techniques to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize resource allocation within energy markets
  • CTE-189 Energy Audit Internship (3 Credits)
    • This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of energy efficiency, practical skills in energy auditing, and supervised field experience.
