AWC Fine Arts to present full lineup of May concerts
April 30, 2019Yuma, AZ (April 30, 2019) – The Arizona Western College Fine Arts Department has a number of performances on the calendar for the community to enjoy during the month of May.
The AWC Jazz Ensemble will be performing a spring concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the AWC Theater, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.
AWC Pep Band is performing an open-air patio concert from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Thursday, May 2. Students will be performing on the covered patio of the 3C Building near the AWC Yuma Campus Starbucks, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.
The AWC Formal Student Recital will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Gloria de Cristo Lutheran Church, 11273 E. 40th St. The recital will celebrate the progress of music students who participate in private studies at AWC and will feature a variety of instrumental and vocal solo performances.
Join the AWC Community Band for their upcoming concert at 7 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Mary Elizabeth Post Auditorium, 400 W. 5th St. Local educator Marissa Tromm will be featured as a soloist during this performance. Tromm is a music teacher for the Crane Elementary School District.
Choral students will be holding a spring concert at 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1550 S. 14th Ave. AWC Chamber Singers and Yuma Chorale will be featured during the performance as well as guest choirs from the Yuma County Women’s Ensemble and San Luis High School. The concert will also highlight music students that are completing their time at AWC.
All performances are free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted during the concerts to benefit the AWC Fine Arts program.
