AWC graduates 31 students from La Paz County campuses
May 22, 2019Parker, AZ (March 22, 2019) – A total of 31 students recently graduated from Arizona Western College La Paz County campuses, with 12 receiving associate degrees and 19 completing certificate programs. This is an increase over last year’s nine associate degree recipients and seven certificate completions.
This growth has provided an opportunity for more students to become prepared for university programs and employment, which is in line with AWC’s Strategic Plan to increase the rate of baccalaureate degrees and eliminate poverty in the community.
One of this year’s graduates is Christina Jones, who successfully earned her associate degree in General Studies. Attending classes at the AWC Parker Learning Center has helped her get one step closer to reaching her goal of becoming a teacher.
“Having a college campus close to home has made all the difference for me,” said Jones. “It has allowed me to get my degree at my own pace and still be able to work full time. The AWC staff has made my college experience amazing.”
She is now pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education at the Parker Learning Center, thanks to AWC’s partnership with Arizona State University.
Arizona Western College offers over 100 degrees and certificates in person, online, using Zoom, and via ITN (Interactive Network Television). Fire Science, Paramedic, Nursing Assistant, Preschool Education, and Community Health Worker certificates were among those earned by La Paz County students this year.
