Chili Cook-Off to raise funds for scholarships
October 30, 2019Teams participate in heated competition for title of event champion
Yuma, AZ (October 30, 2019) – Join the Arizona Western College Alumni Association as teams compete to be recognized for making the Best Chili in Yuma County. Proceeds will benefit AWC Alumni scholarships and programs.
The annual Chili Cook-Off will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The fundraising event will be filled with award-winning chili, music, and family fun. The AWC Lock-N-Wood Facilities Team will be competing for the title of event champion after winning the last two years in a row.
Activities will begin with a Disney-themed Golf Cart Parade put on by student clubs at 10:45 a.m., leading the way to the Chili Cook-Off, which will start at 11 a.m. and run until 1 pm in the grassy area between the 3C and AS buildings on the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.
Admission to the event is free. Punch cards to taste various kinds of chili are $5. Ceramic bowls made by the AWC League of Artists, a student art club, will also be available for purchase for $8 with one bowl of chili.
Speakers will also be sharing about their educational journey as part of a First-Generation Celebration and Resource Fair also happening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
