CTE Open House to showcase programs Feb. 8

Yuma, AZ (January 30, 2018) – An upcoming Career and Technical Education Open House will give residents a chance to discover the wide range of programs offered through Arizona Western College, Southwest Technical Education District of Yuma, Northern Arizona University, and University of Arizona.

The community is invited to come out and learn about what career paths are available in areas of Welding, Cyber Criminology, Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Fire Science, Solar Technologies, Nursing, Homeland Security, Emergency Medical Services and more.

AWC Foundation Selects Faculty for Achievement Awards

Yuma, AZ (January 30, 2018) – The Arizona Western College Foundation awards nominated faculty with the Shadle/Edgecombe and the Frances Morris Endowed Faculty Achievement Awards each year. The purpose of these awards is to recognize AWC faculty members for their outstanding contribution to their profession, to AWC, to their students, and to their community.

AWC Culinary Arts Program Serves Formal Dinners to Raise Scholarship Funds

Yuma, AZ (January 29, 2018) — The Arizona Western College Culinary Arts Program presents their formal dinner offerings that include an appetizer, soup or salad, a main dish with sides and dessert. The students in the program create the menus and serve the meals. The funds raised are used for the students and their program necessities.

Nominations sought for AWC Hall of Fame

Yuma, AZ (January 24, 2018) – Arizona Western College is seeking nominations for the 2018 AWC Hall of Fame. Installed in 2013, the AWC Hall of Fame currently has 8 honorees, including 2017 inductees, Bengie Molina and Lynne Pancrazi.

AWC is looking for nominees from Yuma and LaPaz counties that have made a significant contribution to the mission of the college, or distinguished themselves in service to the larger world.

Exhibition of Liliana Cruz paintings on display at AWC San Luis Learning Center

San Luis, AZ (January 23, 2018) – Portraits by local artist Liliana Cruz are currently on display at the Arizona Western College San Luis Learning Center, 1340 N. 8th Avenue, San Luis, Ariz.

“The Paintings of Liliana Cruz” will be available for public viewing at the San Luis Learning Center until Feb. 9. The exhibition is free for the community to attend and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

AWC Unveils Strategic Plan 2025 in Three Public Events

Yuma, AZ (January 18, 2018)- Residents of Parker, San Luis and the Yuma area will each have an opportunity to hear the outcome of 14 months’ strategic planning work charting a course for the next seven years for the La Paz / Yuma County college district.

AWC Music Department Faculty Perform in Concert Series

Yuma, AZ (December 11, 2017) – The Concert Series at St. Paul's Episcopal Church will be presenting Arizona Western College Music Department Faculty in Concert on Sunday, Jan. 21.

Faculty will perform vocal and instrumental classical music as part of the series, which will begin at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1550 S. 14th Ave.

The concert is free for the community to attend. Donations will support scholarships for students in the music department.

AWC Child Development Learning Lab’s Annual Holiday Program

Yuma, AZ (December 7 , 2017)--The Dr. Kathryn A. Watson Child Development Learning Laboratory (CDLL) at Arizona Western College will be having their Annual Holiday Program for the CDLL children and their families on Tuesday, December 19 at 4:00 pm. 

Children will wear their Sunday best and perform for their family. They will also prepare to welcome Santa Clause, who will stop by and hand each child a gift. Children and their families will end the evening decorating holiday cookies and enjoying them with a warm cup of hot chocolate.
