Support local college students by donating to AWC’s food pantry
February 11, 2025Yuma, Ariz. (February 11, 2025) – Arizona Western College is seeking donations for The Cubby, a free food pantry and closet for students and staff at AWC.
The Cubby offers free food and personal care items in addition to professional clothing, supporting students in the pursuit of professional opportunities. While the volunteer program runs on monthly donations from food banks, grants, and the AWC Foundation, stock begins to thin toward the end of each month.
“The Cubby is a vital resource for AWC students and staff facing food insecurity, and we rely on the generosity of our community to keep our shelves stocked,” shared Adrienne Noriega, AWC’s Student Care Coordinator. “With increased demand, we are seeking more donations—especially around the third week of the month when supplies run low. Every contribution, big or small, helps ensure that no one in our campus community goes without. We encourage everyone to donate at our campus collection boxes or 'mini cubbies' and be part of the effort to support those in need.”
Community members wishing to contribute to The Cubby can bring physical donations (non-perishable food items, clothing, and/or toiletries) to the AWC Yuma Campus, where multiple drop-off points accept donations:
• Health & Wellness Department, second floor of the 3C building
• Collection box, first floor of the 3C building
• Collection boxes around campus

The Cubby is an extension of the AWC Student Health & Wellness department, which connects students with resources including health insurance, SNAP benefits, housing, primary care, and mental and behavioral health services.
