Student Showcase team announces scholarship winners
May 20, 2021Yuma, AZ (May 20, 2021) – Eight students from Arizona Western College earned scholarships as part of the 2021 Student Showcase.
Of the 37 entries featured, this year’s scholarship winners included:
- $2000 Hailey Chulamorkodt, ‘The Smart Toilet—Year Two”
- $2000 (split) Emily Skibitsky, Justine Rodriguez, Nadia Salazar, Fatima Covarrubias, “The Sonoran Desert: Lower Colorado River Valley”
- $1000 Samantha Chulamorkodt, “The Intubation Shield”
- $1000 Amanda Duffy, “The Art of Dance & Video”
- $500 Matthew Lopez, “Liebestraum”
Over 1,000 AWC students, community members, and faculty and staff members voted for the top presentations and projects during the week-long, virtual event. All entries can be viewed online here.
The annual event serves as a platform for students from a variety of academic backgrounds to share their projects with the community. This year’s showcase featured a diverse range of entries including medical innovations; scientific studies; video monologues; vocal, musical, and dance performances; research projects; video essays; film, art, and animation projects; poetry; a video game website; and more.
Scholarships were funded through contributions made by the Gowan Company and the AWC Foundation.
