Parker Open Mic to feature special guest author Arturo Magaña
April 1, 2024Parker, AZ (April 2, 2024) – Students from Arizona Western College, in conjunction with the college’s Creative Writing School, will host the seventh annual Parker Open Mic from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at the Parker Learning Center, 1109 Geronimo Ave.
The event will feature special guest Arturo Magaña, author of Nostalgias of November.
Writers, musicians, comics, dancers, magicians, and spoken-word artists are welcome to participate. Any five-minute performance suitable for presentation in a small performance space in front of a live audience is welcome. However, pre-registration is recommended as performance slots are limited.
“This event gives members of the campus community an opportunity to share their talents in a supportive environment,” said Professor of English David Kern.
While AWC encourages freedom of expression in artistic matters, participants are asked to refrain from gratuitous references to violence or slurs based on race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. The faculty and staff of AWC will have the final say on when such content has no artistic merit.
