leadHERship to host relationship-building workshop

September 23, 2024

San Luis, AZ (September 23, 2024) – On September 30, the leadHERship initiative at Arizona Western College will host its second workshop of the semester at the San Luis Learning Center. The workshop, titled, “Building Healthy Relationships,” will be facilitated by Dubia and Vicente Zaragoza, a husband-and-wife team who have been married for 23 years.

Between them, the Zaragozas bring a wealth of experience to the September workshop. With an M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Relations, Dubia, a professor at AWC, has been teaching family and relationship science for over 14 years. Vicente, who also boasts multiple degrees in Business and Engineering, has devoted years to volunteering in areas such as student mentorship, pastoral counseling, and guest speaking at AWC.

“A healthy relationship is a fundamental human need, and achieving it requires intentional effort,” Professor Zaragoza said. “In this workshop, we’ll explore ways to deepen intimacy and understanding. We’ll also learn to recognize common relationship red flags and how to avoid them.”

The workshop closely aligns with the mission of the leadHERship program, which aims to foster gender equality and empowerment within the community. Students and attendees can expect to leave with a clearer understanding of not only what a healthy relationship looks like but also how to enrich their personal relationships while standing firm in themselves.
