Business Club to participate in upcoming competition
March 3, 2020Yuma, AZ (March 3, 2020) – The Arizona Western College Business Club will be taking part in a competition on Friday, March 13, at the Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.
The competition will begin at 10 a.m. in the Business Administration (BA) Building. The media is invited to attend.
Students will be working in teams of four to develop a solution to a business prompt that’s presented to them by a local business. The club reached out to Fry’s Grocery, who will be providing the prompt for students to solve as well as a judge to evaluate each group’s presentations.
“This is an amazing event, because the students will be able to take the theory they learn in the classroom and apply it to real-life business scenarios,” said AWC Professor of Accounting Kristine Duke. “This will also help our students once they graduate and enter into the business world.”
The AWC Business Club has previously attended similar competitions sponsored by the University of Arizona. Duke noted that the club decided to create their own competition locally this year. An example of a past competition prompt was for club members to develop a marketing plan for Target to help them gain more of a market share in groceries.
