Arizona Western College launches new FM service in Yuma

February 12, 2019

Yuma, AZ (February 12, 2019) – Music fans in Yuma now have a new way to hear the eclectic sounds emanating from Arizona Western College’s Border Radio. AWC has been on the air at 1320 AM for nearly 50 years, originally as KAWC-AM and for the past year as KOFA-AM. Now that same service is being simulcast on 94.7 FM in Yuma.

The new FM translator, broadcasting from the top of the Crescent Center in the heart of Yuma, provides blues, bluegrass, rock, folk and international music in stereo. The music programming is presented primarily by local hosts, including several Border Radio interns from AWC, and some select public radio producers from across the country. The flagship programs are The Bridge from 6 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday featuring blues, oldies, alternative rock and local artists, and Crossing Borders from 3 to 7 p.m. seven days a week featuring new music, alternative rock, world music and more local artists.

In addition to 94.7 FM & 1320 AM in Yuma, Border Radio is also heard on the Arizona Community Radio Network on FM transmitters in Prescott, Kingman, the Verde Valley and Flagstaff. The station can also be heard on two smartphone apps: RadioFX and Tune-in.

Details about KOFA and a live audio stream are available at borderradioAZ.org.
