Adult Education courses offered in Yuma and La Paz

February 14, 2025

HSE and ESOL classes beginning March 10

Yuma, Ariz. (February 14, 2025) – Students in Yuma and La Paz counties seeking to improve their English language skills or earn a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSE) are encouraged to apply to Arizona Western College’s Adult Education courses, with the next session of classes beginning the week of March 10.

GED Preparation courses provide students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma. The classes focus on key areas such as AZ civics, math, science, social studies, and language arts, preparing students to succeed in the GED exams and pursue future educational and career opportunities.

In the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses, students will grow their language skills in a supportive environment. The classes emphasize growth in reading, listening, speaking, writing, and civic education, equipping students to communicate confidently in both personal and professional settings.

The application process, which involves advising, placement testing, registration, and orientation, takes about two weeks to complete. For this reason, students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. While classes begin the second week of March, students must complete the onboarding process in February to be eligible for registration.

To apply, interested parties can contact the campus where they are interested in taking classes. Then, an AWC representative will guide them through the application process.
