All recognized clubs are required to renew their charters annually. After the Charter Renewal has been completed and returned, it will be presented as a request by the club to Student Government Association. When accepted, the forms will be filed and the club will be considered "active" for the entire academic year (provided that it operates within the policies and regulations of the college).

How to start a club:

  • Start by writing down ideas, thoughts and plans of how you envision your club or organization.  If you can dream it you can DO it!
  • Create a concrete purpose for your club.  Start with writing a mission statement.
  • Share this information with other students who are interested in forming the club with you.  You need at least 3 members who are committed to participating in your club.
  • Schedule interest meetings for your club.  This will give other students the opportunity to ask questions, take interest, and join your club!
  • Identify an advisor for your club.  Advisors must be AWC staff or faculty members.  Sometimes it takes a while to find an advisor please see the AWC Student Government (SGA) if you require additional assistance.
  • Complete and turn in a Club Charter.  Charters are approved at Student Government meetings.
  • Prepare a Constitution (a standard document that describes the structure and by laws for your club).  This document serves to outline your clubs purpose, structure, voting and positions.  Submit to the office of Student Leadership and Activities
  • Congratulations, following these steps you’re now ready to be an official AWC club!  Remember to have fun!
