AWC launches new Food Incubator program

Yuma, AZ (June 13, 2024) – Arizona Western College is launching a new Food Incubator program this month to teach aspiring entrepreneurs what it takes to start and run a successful business.
This four-week, boot camp-style course will be co-taught by AWC Professor of Accounting Dr. Kristine Duke and AWC Professor of Culinary Arts Chef Bob Gedeon.
“The Food Incubator program will provide participants with entrepreneurial skills to begin a business in the food service and restaurant industry, teaching them everything they need to know from food safety to accounting,” said Dr. Kristine Duke.
Students also have an opportunity to learn about licensing, making a business plan, purchasing, marketing, food presentation, and more. Participants will earn a certificate of completion upon finishing the course.
The Food Incubator program is offered from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays from June 24 – July 23 at the AWC Yuma Campus Culinary Arts Lab (LR 109), 2020 S. Ave. 8E. A campus map can be found here.

The cost of the course is $400. Scholarship funding is available. Those interested can call for scholarship eligibility information.
