Parker, AZ (June 27, 2018) – Arizona Western College is expanding their offerings in La Paz County with the launch of a new trades program.
They’re kicking off a new Associate in Applied Science Degree program in Industrial Technology this fall by offering TEC 100, a core curriculum introductory skills course. The class will prepare students for certificates or degrees in technology and trades.
Participants will become proficient in techniques necessary for the construction/industrial maintenance industry according to National Center for Construction Education Research standards.
“What is so great about this course is that it provides a foundation for individuals who are interested in entering into a trades/technical field,” said Kathy Ocampo, AWC Associate Dean for La Paz County Services.
“We are really excited to offer more courses that support developing technical based knowledge which also provides training for those entering the workforce or those looking to re-brand their future career choices. Our plan is to continue to support economic development by providing programs that will aid in continuing to strengthen the local workforce.”
The AAS degree in Industrial Technology will also include welding, electrical, employee and occupational safety, and other trade-based coursework, and includes general education requirements such as math, English, science, and more.
Eligibility for English 100 or an appropriate reading score is required to take the TEC 100 course. Students can make an appointment to take a placement exam.
Those interested in taking the TEC 100 course should contact the AWC Parker Learning Center at (928) 669-2214. For more information students can also stop by the Parker Learning Center, 1109 Geronimo Avenue, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
