AWC Communications & Marketing Win Big


Four AWC departments brought home regional marketing awards the last week of September, recognizing innovative efforts to sell the benefits of higher education in Yuma and La Paz counties.

Members of the AWC Web, College Publications, Marketing & Public Relations, and Admissions, Outreach and Recruitment teams racked up 10 wins in the 2016 National Council of Marketing & Public Relations District 6 Medallion Awards.

Join Us for San Luis Family Fun Night on October 5


Arizona Western College Alicia Valdez San Luis Learning Center is excited to announce their upcoming Educational Family Night on Wednesday, October 5 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.  The event will take place at the AWC Alicia Valdez San Luis Center located at 1340 N 8th Ave, San Luis, Arizona.

Family Night will highlight the college and community services, programs and degrees in a fun and informative event for students, family and friends.  There will be a parade, food, games, transfer fair, performances and so much more. 

AWC Scholastic Book Fair from Sept 30 to Oct 7


The Dr. Kathryn A. Watson Child Development Learning Lab (CDLL) at Arizona Western College will be hosting their annual Scholastic Book Fair on Friday, September 30th to October 7th.  All book sales benefit the CDLL.  They will earn Scholastic Dollars from the sale that can be put towards items for the center.

AWC Helps Students Get Money for College


AWC’s Office of Financial Aid and the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education (ACPE) are teaming up for their Annual College Goal FAFSA.  College bound students are encouraged to attend College Goal FAFSA on Friday, October 14 from 3pm-6pm at the AWC Downtown Center (1351 S. Redondo Center Dr. in Yuma) or on Friday, November 18 from 3pm-6pm at the AWC San Luis Center. 

Former Astronaut Mike Foreman Visits Arizona Western College


Former astronaut Mike Foreman visited Arizona Western College on Thursday, September 22nd to talk to AWC students and students from the area about working in space. He spoke with the students in the Schoening Conference Center in the College Community Center (3C) on the Yuma Campus.

Foreman is a retired U.S. Navy pilot and a NASA astronaut. One of his NASA missions was to deliver the Japanese Experiment Module and the Canadian Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulate to the International Space Station. In November 2009, he served as a crewmember for the STS-129 mission.

Applying for Financial Aid Now Begins Earlier on October 1


Thanks to the new Prior-Prior Year policy (PPY), beginning with the 2017-2018 academic year, students will no longer need to wait until January to begin the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process. That’s because they’ll be able to file the FAFSA using tax information from two years prior (2015 tax info) and will now be able to apply for FASFA starting October 1, 2016.
