AWC Somerton Center Holding Educational Family Night Career Festival


Yuma, AZ (April 17, 2018) – The community is invited to join the Arizona Western College Somerton Center for their Education Family Night Career Festival on Wednesday, May 2, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Come and learn about programs available through AWC and partnering universities, GED classes, English courses, community program services, after-school programs, and more.

Miss La Paz 2018 crowned, wins over $5K in scholarships


Parker, AZ (April 17, 2018) – Desaray Brault was crowned Miss La Paz 2018 during the Miss La Paz Pageant at the La Paz County Fair in Parker last month.

During the ceremony, hosted by reigning Miss Arizona MaddieRose Holler, Brault received a scholarship from Arizona Western College for one year of tuition valued at $1,000 as well as a $4,500 scholarship raised by the community. The Miss La Paz pageant is part of the Miss America Organization, which has been recognized as one of the largest scholarship providers for young women.

AWC Jazz Festival held as part of Village Jazz Series


Festival guest artist also holding master class on jazz and trumpet technique

Yuma, AZ (April 16, 2018) – The Arizona Western College Jazz Festival is being held in conjunction with the Village Jazz Series on Thursday, April 19. The performance will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the village area of the Yuma Palms Mall (in front of Harkins Theatres.)

This year’s guest artist will be trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos from San Diego. He’ll be accompanied by the AWC Jazz Ensemble.

AWC Music Faculty and Community Members Performing April 15


Yuma, AZ (March 27, 2018) – Music lovers of all ages are invited to an upcoming concert featuring AWC music faculty and community members.

The AWC Music Faculty and Friends: Chamber Music in the Foothills performance will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at Gloria de Cristo Lutheran Church, 11273 E. 40th St.

The concert will include a vocal ensemble, the AWC String Ensemble, the Yuma Brass Quintet, and the Sonoran Chamber Players. Works performed will feature vocal soloists, oboe, horn, cello, piano, and tuba.
