High school students can earn AWC Carpentry Certificate through pilot program
January 15, 2019Yuma, AZ (January 15, 2019) – Students now have the opportunity to obtain their Arizona Western College Occupational Certificate in Basic Carpentry while still in high school.
The final two courses necessary to earn the certification – Blueprint Reading for Construction and Concrete and Concrete Form Systems – are being offered to construction students at Kofa High School through an AWC pilot program. Students have previously had an opportunity to complete the first three dual-credit courses needed for the certification as well.
Collaboration provides Winter Health Camp for gifted Castle Dome students
December 12, 2018A new collaboration between Arizona Western College Career and Technical Education, the AWC Foundation, Northern Arizona University, and the Yuma County Health Department will provide 20 gifted students at Castle Dome Middle School with an opportunity to attend a free Winter Health Camp.
This three-day camp will give students a chance to participate in interactive workshops on germs, diseases, and antibodies.The camp will be held from Dec. 17-19, at the AWC Yuma Campus and will culminate with an awards reception.
