Field of Interest
Provides graduates with the essential skills required of an entry-level employee in the electrical wiring industry. Program curriculum is aligned with National Center for Construction Education Research standardized national skills standards for the construction trades.  This program is a fast-track to the Basic Electrical Certificate, completed in just one semester.

Type
Students who successfully complete the course requirements can earn National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Craft Skills Certification.

What You'll Learn

Program coursework includes the following:

• Introduction to concepts explained in NCCER module 00101-09 – Basic Safety; NCCER module 00102-09 – Introduction to Construction Math; NCCER module 00103-09 – Introduction to Hand Tools; NCCER 00104-09 – Introduction to Power Tools; NCCER 00105-09 – Introduction to Construction Drawings; NCCER module 00106-09 – Basic Rigging (all modules subject to revision).
• Introduction to basic electrical principles, circuits, and measurements.
• Introduction to direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) theory, Ohm's Law, and series, parallel, and combination circuits.
• Study of the National Electrical Code (NEC), including local ordinances.
• Overview of the planning and installing of electrical fixtures.
• Complete overview of the principles and applications of components, control circuits, and diagrams.

Displaced workers looking for valuable training to re-enter the workforce.

Registration Process: Because students earn college credit from Arizona Western College, application and admission to AWC is required.   Interested students will meet with an AZ Quest Grant Coordinator to determine eligibility for the program.
