YFVA Presents $10K to AWC to Fund the Jacob Louis Daily Memorial Scholarship

The Arizona Western College Community Band will be having their Fall Concert on Monday, October 24. The concert will take place at Mary Elizabeth Post Auditorium at 7:00pm. Donations will be accepted.

Project Will Help Students Attain STEM Degrees in Informatics
Arizona’s Senator McCain and Congressman Gosar’s offices contacted Arizona Western College on September 27, 2016 to notify that the Informatics-STEMing Into New Careers for Today and Tomorrow (INSTINCT2) proposal had been funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education, Hispanic Serving Institutions Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (HIS-STEM) and Articulation Program.
Arizona Western College received an Exemplary Practices Award from the Community College Business Officers (CCBO) at their 2016 annual conference in Orlando, Florida for the Chiller Optimization Project. Steve Eckert, AWC Director of Facilities Management, accepted the award on behalf of AWC and also gave an hour long presentation on the project at the conference.
Arizona Western College will be holding their 2nd Annual English Symposium on Friday, November 18 from 9am to 12pm in BA 111. The symposium is co-sponsored by the Center for Teaching Effectiveness (CTE) and the AWC English Faculty.

For the Love of the Laborer: Historical Influences and Current Work by Angel Luna
AWCTheatre presents “The Laramie Project” by Moises Kaufman and directed by Ann Wilkinson. The play opens on Thursday, October 20th at 7:30 pm. Additional performances are on October 21, 22 and 27-30. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm and the Sunday matinee is at 2:30 pm. The performances will be held in the AWC Theatre on the Yuma Campus.
The public has two chances to meet the three finalists for the job of AWC Associate Dean of South County. Public forums are scheduled for the week of Oct 17 in both San Luis and Somerton.
