Open Call for Art Submissions

Yuma, AZ (August 2, 2017)-The San Luis Library and Arizona Western College San Luis Learning Center announces their Fourth Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition “Origins”.  The exhibit will run from September 14 through October 14, 2017 at the San Luis Library (1075 N. 6th Avenue, San Luis, AZ 85349).  The opening ceremony will be on September 14 at 4:00pm.

YUMA, Ariz. – At some point, you run out of superlatives to describe Patrick Macon. The Arizona Western linebacker won almost every award imaginable, led the Matador football team to the national championship game, graduated and transferred to Oklahoma State. Today he was named the 2017 David Rowlands Male Student-Athlete of the Year [1], given to the top male student-athlete in the NJCAA. He is the first Matador to earn the NJCAA’s top honor.

AWC Massage Therapy Program Continues to Reduce Stress of Employees and the Community


Massage Therapy students offer chair massages on campus

 

Yuma, AZ (July 20, 2017)-The Arizona Western College (AWC) Massage Therapy students will be offering chair massages in the College Community Center 3C on the Yuma Campus from 11am-1pm. The chair massages will be available, Thursday, July 27. The program students will be available for $10 for a 15 minute chair massage. No appointment will be necessary. And the public is welcome.

 

AWC San Luis Informatics Campus Renovation & Expansion Update


INSINCT2 Grant enables South Yuma County students to earn a BAS

Yuma, AZ (July 19, 2017)—The planned renovation and expansion of the Arizona Western College San Luis Informatics Campus first broke ground on June 29 and is in progress with Pilkington Commercial Company, Inc. serving as General Contractors of the project.  According to the EMC2 Architect’s Field Report on July 11, the footings and slab were being prepped. The concrete was poured for the footings and slab on Friday, July 14th.

Southwest Gas Donates over $5K in Equipment to AWC


Yuma, AZ (July 5, 2017)—On July 5th, Southwest Gas Corporation presented a donation of equipment to the Arizona Western College Agricultural Land Lab and the Ernest Lopez Welding Institute.  The AWC Agricultural Land Lab received a Honda 2000 Generator and Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor.  The Ernest Lopez Welding Institute was presented with a Miller 2005 Engine Drive Welder.  These have all been serviced and are ready to be used by AWC students.  The total estimated value of all of this equipment is $5,156.

AWC Massage Therapy Program: July Full Body Massages Available for $15 AND a Case of Water


Yuma, AZ (July 3, 2017)-During the month of July, the Arizona Western College (AWC) Massage Therapy Program will be offering one hour full body massages for only $15 AND a case of water.  The collected water cases will then be donated to the Yuma Community Food Bank (YCFB) and the $15 will go to the AWC Student Massage Clinic, which will help support scholarships and extra-curricular activities. There will also be curbside service available to unload the water if needed.

AWC Expands Opportunities in South Yuma County


INSINCT2 Grant enables South Yuma County students to earn a BAS

Yuma, AZ (June 29, 2017)— On Thursday, June 29, ground was broken for the planned renovation and expansion of the Arizona Western College San Luis Informatics Campus. The expansion and renovation is the result of a Federal Title III STEM Grant awarded to AWC on October 1, 2016; “Informatics STeming Into New Careers for Today and Tomorrow” (INSTINCT2). The renovations will take place over the next several months at the San Luis Middle School.

2017 AWC SkillsUSA Student Chapter Returns from National Competition


Yuma, AZ (June 28, 2017)-The Arizona Western College SkillsUSA Student Chapter just returned from the 53rd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students, in Louisville, KY from June 19-23, 2017. The students represented Arizona and AWC at the post-secondary level and competed nationally in their respective contest areas all week long.
