Yuma, AZ (January 15, 2019) – Students now have the opportunity to obtain their Arizona Western College Occupational Certificate in Basic Carpentry while still in high school.
The final two courses necessary to earn the certification – Blueprint Reading for Construction and Concrete and Concrete Form Systems – are being offered to construction students at Kofa High School through an AWC pilot program. Yuma, AZ (January 9, 2019) – Arizona Western College Professor Amelia Bowdell will be kicking up her heels to the tune of bagpipes and drums during Yuma’s upcoming Scottish Burns Supper.
The Scottish Burns Supper will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Dr. As part of the evening’s festivities, Bowdell will be performing several Scottish Highland dances to live pipe band music played by the United Yuma Firefighters Pipes and Drums band as well as Canadian bagpipers and drummers.

Yuma, AZ (January 8, 2019) – St. Paul’s Concert Series will feature Arizona Western College Music Department Faculty in Concert on Sunday, Jan. 27.
Faculty will perform vocal and instrumental classical music during the concert, which will begin at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1550 S. 14th Ave.

Yuma, AZ (December 18, 2018) – A grand total of 549 pounds of produce grown at the Arizona Western College Land Lab was donated to the Yuma Community Food Bank during 2018.
Donations made throughout the year by the Yuma County Collegiate Young Farmers and Ranchers club consisted of green okra, red okra, green beans, snap peas, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, and eight ball squash. The produce was grown as part of the Plant Science 100 class as well as by other members of the AWC Agricultural Science Department.

A new collaboration between Arizona Western College Career and Technical Education, the AWC Foundation, Northern Arizona University, and the Yuma County Health Department will provide 20 gifted students at Castle Dome Middle School with an opportunity to attend a free Winter Health Camp.

(December 5, 2018) – Arizona Western College announced Wednesday, December 5th that the 2018 season of Matador Football would be its final season, leaving behind a well-respected history that stretches across the country and spans 6 decades.
