Workforce Education is a program of non-credit, fee-based courses and activities designed to serve individuals with educational goals that do not require college credit. Continuing Education offers workforce and personal enrichment courses in a variety of areas, including business, computers, career and professional training, information technology and professional development, languages and fitness and health.

Participants will be presented with: a brief history of carving, an overview of current and historic carving tools and techniques, different types of materials and selection of materials, implementation of carving, sanding, and polishing techniques. Participants will learn to use the power tool set to carve gemstone jewelry. Advanced students will learn and develop the skills necessary to create more complex designs. Workshop is geared towards both beginning and advanced level individuals. All required materials and equipment will be provided by the instructor. Interested in a unique Japanese martial art? Kendo, \Way of the Sword\, is a very traditional and immensely popular sport in Japan. This martial art of Samurai origin will develop the technical and mental skills associated with this Japanese philosophy. The focus of the course will be on the basic skills associated within the discipline of Kendo. Emphasis will be placed on physical conditioning, mental discipline, and self-awareness. This is a fun course and people of all fitness levels are welcome.
