Arizona Western College offers bus transportation through the Yuma County Area Transit (YCAT) system to and from the main campus.

AWC and YCAT are working together towards our goal of connecting communities and eliminating barriers!

As of January 2012, ALL AWC Students who reside in the YCIPTA service area pay a transportation fee at registration. This gives AWC students unlimited access to YCAT services all semester. In order to use YCAT as a student, you must have an AWC identification card and a YCAT sticker that you renew each semester. You can pick up your YCAT sticker at the Business Office in the 3C Building or front desk counters of San Luis, Somerton, Down Town Center, Wellton, and MCAS. For more information on where to pick up your YCAT sticker you can call the AWC Cashier at (928) 317-7666.

AWC Faculty and Staff that are not enrolled in class may purchase a YCAT sticker.

How to Ride

If you’re new to using public transportation, we understand it might seem scary at first. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of help to get you started.

Benefits

Financial Rewards:

Using public transportation versus a privately owned vehicle can save you thousands of dollars a year. Individuals who ride instead of drive can save on gas, maintenance, parking, and other miscellaneous transportation expenses.

Health Advantages:

For most people who take advantage of public transportation, walking or biking is a normal part of life. These activities ultimately lead to a healthier lifestyle. There are a multitude of benefits from walking even just 15 – 30 minutes per day. Using public transportation can be a tool in your arsenal towards reaching healthier goals.

Time Savings:

When you don’t have to worry about driving you can free up a lot of time to study for your classes. You can also connect with friends and use social media or simply catch up on the latest music trends. Not having to focus on the road will save you valuable time towards other important tasks.

Environmental Benefits:

Not only is public transportation a great way to get from one place to another, but it also helps the environment. By choosing to ride the bus you reduce air pollution by saving fuel per passenger mile and lower your carbon footprint.
